Behavioral Consulting for Zoos and Sanctuaries
Zoos and animal sanctuaries do amazing and important work, and helping them enhance the care of their animals is one of my passions. As dolphin trainers we are trained extensively by experts in animal training, behavior, and enrichment until we become experts ourselves. Unfortunately those working with animals in sanctuaries and zoos don’t always have access to this same level of training. My goal is to bring this training to all zoological facilities so that their staff and animals alike can benefit from it.
Training/behavioral modification and enrichment have been shown to greatly improve the welfare of animals in zoological settings. Whether you have animals that are exhibiting undesirable behaviors, are interested in improving your enrichment program, or simply want to elevate the care of your animals, we can help. We offer-
Husbandry/Medical Management Training - Teach the animals to participate voluntarily in their own medical care.
Animal Ambassador Training - Teach behaviors that contribute to making an animal an effective ambassador to the public.
Modifying Stereotypic Behaviors - Utilize behavioral modification to reduce undesirable behaviors like pacing, feather plucking, etc.
Exercise Training- Teach behaviors that help your animals to get the physical exercise that they need.
Cognitive Training - teach behaviors that help your animals get the mental stimulation that they need.
And more!
We offer both in-person and virtual consultations. We can create a training plan and guide your staff on how to implement it, or we can train the animals ourselves (or a combination of both). We are fully insured, and offer special pricing for non-profits! Get in touch today to learn more.
